A town of contrasts

Located along the Seine, opposite the Bois de Boulogne, next to La Défense and 15 minutes from Porte Maillot, Puteaux is a town of contrasts that offers exceptional quality of life and the dynamism of a rapidly developing town. It is a cultural town with a theater, cinema and ultra-modern media library as well as a sports town with an incredible sports complex on the Île de Puteaux and proximity to the Bois de Boulogne.

Four sought-after districts

The town of Puteaux is made up of four districts:

  • The 'Bas de Puteaux' district, also known as 'Vieux Puteaux' (old-town Puteaux), stretches from the Seine to the railroad tracks, on either side of Boulevard Richard Wallace. Highly sought after for its charming houses, this dynamic urban area is home to many shops, a market, the Town Hall, the media library and the theater.

  • The 'Haut de Puteaux' district is quiet and residential. It is located to the west of the railroad tracks and was primarily an industrial area until the mid-20th century. Today, this district offers a wide variety of constructions including houses with gardens, which replaced the old factories in the 1950s; buildings, which popped up in the 1960s; and upscale residences, which appeared in the 1990s.

  • La Défense is a business district located inside the ring road with a very low supply of housing. It is primarily made up of high-rise office buildings housing the headquarters of the biggest French companies. These buildings offer a breathtaking view of Paris and the Bois de Boulogne.

  • The Île de Puteaux does not have any residents except for the occupants of a few barges. It is home to an exceptional sports complex which offers several tennis courts, two swimming pools, stadiums and charming parks.

A highly accessible town

Puteaux is a highly accessible town with a rail line that connects to the Saint-Lazare train station in 15 minutes, a Tram line (T2) that stops at La Défense and Porte de Versailles, line 1 of the Paris metro at the 'Esplanade de la Défense' station, and a number of buses to Porte Maillot, the 16th arrondissement of Paris, Suresnes and Rueil-Malmaison.

Slight decline in the property market

After an exceptional 23% rise in prices between 2010 and 2014, the property market in Puteaux has experienced a slight decline over the past twelve months (-8%). At the same time, a 17% increase in the number of transactions has been recorded, according to notary figures. The town of Puteaux is home to both mansions and modest-sized apartments in highly diverse districts with no consistent price per square meter. Large differences in sale prices are therefore observed, ranging from €4,000 per sq. m to €8,000 per sq. m.
